Digital Sketch Video 1/2013

Been a while since I updated. I've been working on several new digital pieces, mainly concept drawings. Practicing working faster and getting more detail into each piece. The video below shows my piece "Sky Forest", a futuristic city concept, with the initial black and white image, then a color overlay. 

New environmental matte painting up!

This was a matte painting project for my computer art class. Composed of a 9 images in Photoshop

New digital work up! This was a dusk environmental concept sketch I began that ended up turning into a huge metropolis. Drawing the tower in the center inspired me to move outwards and play around with some skyscraper concepts. The Bank of China Tower inspired the lit up skyscraper to the left, while the large one in the distance was inspired by the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, UAE. This was a fun piece that depicts urban sprawl, and our slow gravitation towards the city, and building upwards.

This is a progress animation of my new matte painting titled "Apocalypse Now". The original photo was taken on a rooftop in St. Petersburg, FL. I envisioned how the skyline would look in the future, with modern skyscrapers and a bustling city. But I went a little further in time to show what it would look like in the absence of people. A time when vegetation takes over and slowly breaks down our structures. Modern cities are a great benefit to people, but we need to remember they are temporary and aren't immune to the elements.

 

Matte Painting Walk through

This is a 5 step walk through of my recently completed piece "Sun City". I drew a standard beach concept, but felt it lacked depth. I later incorporated images and created a Matte Painting. No Stock images were used.
